Our Mission:

Fair Haven Foundation exists to share the love of Jesus Christ with out-of-town patients and families of patients being treated at IU Health University Hospital and IU Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis. Fair Haven provides free, temporary housing and compassionate support to these families, creating a "haven" amidst the storm of serious health issues.

Our Core Values:

  • Christ:

Recalling the love and compassion that Jesus Christ showed to those He met who were sick, hurting, and in need, and having also received these gifts from Him, we seek to share His love and compassion with those we serve. All of our actions, policies, programs, and events align with the teachings of Christ and the Scriptures.
  • Charity:

Rather than a social program or institution, instead we strive to demonstrate the love of Christ as servants and stewards administering the gifts of housing and compassion. We seek to help relieve the financial burden faced by many patients and their families through the provision of housing. All of our housing is provided free-of-charge.
  • Refuge:

For out-of-town patients and their families, we provide housing that is not only adequate, convenient, clean, safe, comfortable, and fully-equipped, but also warm and beautiful. We pray that our guests would find a true "refuge in the storm" for the body, soul, and spirit.
  • Compassion:

Sensitive to the various forms of suffering that illness often brings, we show compassion to those we serve. Our volunteers express their sincere care and concern by their listening, their presence, and their tangible service.
  • Service:

As a bridge connecting the local community to patients and their families, we provide a unique opportunity for volunteer service through partnership with local churches, service organizations, other groups and individuals. We depend on the service of volunteers to carry out our mission. We especially encourage individuals who have developed a heart for our mission through personal experience to join us in service.
  • Integrity:

We uphold the highest ethical standards of honesty and accountability in all of our policies and practices, most notably in the areas of the housing application process, financial stewardship, leadership, and personal conduct.
  • Philanthropy:

By sharing our mission and the stories of the patients that we serve, we believe that others will be inspired to give. As we provide the opportunity to contribute to our work, we give others the joy and privilege of partnering with us to serve patients and their families in need. We do not engage any sponsorships (corporate, governmental, or otherwise) that would require us to compromise our mission, vision, or core values. Ultimately, we depend on God for the provision of all resources.
  • Prayer:

Undergirding all that we do, the practice of prayer is a vital and integral component of our undertakings, and we regard it as powerful and effective. We are dependent on God for vision and guidance and for provision of resources. We are committed to bringing each of our guests to Him in prayer for hope, comfort, peace, provision, and healing of the body, soul, and spirit. We ask for God's presence to fill each room that we provide and pray that each of our guests may experience Him and His love in the midst of their situation.
